Partner and Senior Consultant
Dr. Jude Chan received his doctoral degree in education at the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League and home of the first medical and business school in the United States. He has a double masters, an MSEd from UPenn and an MBA and BA from the University of Miami, FL. As a senior consultant, with exposure to a significant number of students, he is interested in taking all types of feedback to develop educational software that improves the efficiency of the prehealth process. As part of his doctoral dissertation, Dr. Chan pursued research with the goal of improving and advancing institutional support mechanisms for current prehealth advisors as he believes they are an integral part of the healthcare system and their continued development and success ensures a productive premedical pipeline cycle after cycle. Dr. Chan has also earned an Executive Certificate in Leadership and Management at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Early in his studies, Dr. Chan decided to pursue medicine and successfully gained admission into a top medical program. Most of his early career he believed that he would pursue a path towards neurosurgery. Instead he found his passion was actually in the field of Education and the pursuit of Education Development for his clients, who range from university level, premedical students to management level executives in training programs at top Fortune 500 companies. A perpetual student at heart, he wanted to lend time to teaching so during his gap year before beginning medical school, Dr. Chan became a Florida State Certified teacher and taught at Mater Lakes Academy. With his credentials, he was made the Advance Placement Physics, Honors Physics and Biology teacher. It was here he came into contact with many bright students that moved him into the realm of advising. He realized quickly that so many of them had little to no idea of how the college admissions process worked.
After advising students on a daily basis, he became cognizant that many pre-professional students also needed admission help and there was a shortage in this kind of service. After independently counseling students at their homes and outside of the classroom. Dr. Chan partnered up with a bright team of experienced academic advisors and founded EFIIE CONSULTING GROUP. Within it's first year of business, ECG gained the support of well-known Deans, education advisors and fellow consultants. ECG became active in the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce and was recognized in the Diamond Awards as a top small business in 2014. Dr. Chan has worked with students and career changers from many countries and various backgrounds. He is highly sought after by students and professionals in various fields and is committed to diversity in education. He cares for his clients on a personal level.
“I believe that education is important because it enables a person to see beyond the confinements of what they already know and realize how much more there is to learn. To be content with a high-school amount of knowledge is to be held in time. Our world advances every day. If our students do not evolve themselves along with it, they will get left behind. In my opinion, that creates more issues in our society. Many students, without realizing it, follow the easiest pathway, which does not always lead to good job prospects and or a bright future. Others choose not pursue a higher degree at all, incorrectly believing that there is no point to it. Some throw away the idea, thinking they can never afford it. Many of these very students could qualify for financial aid and scholarships but they simply do not know how to go about applying for or accomplishing these things. There is a lack of sufficient guidance and too many capable students fall through the cracks. When I founded Efiie, I wanted to make sure that if a student decided not to further their education, it is not because of inaccurate information. I want them to know and understand their options clearly, and when it is laid out in front of them, only then should they make a decision on their best course of action. ” - Jude Chan
